Skyfleet: March of the Mutabugs Launch

I had an exciting day at Grange Primary School with the P5/6 class for the launch of Skyfleet: March of the Mutabugs! We looked at the story setting of the New World where radiation caused the wildlife to mutate, and examined some magnified bugs to get an idea of how big the insects were that Amberley, Ric and the Skyfleet had to face! Then we discussed the Skyfleet pilots and talked about character descriptions, with four volunteers dressing up as Rake Raffish, Screwball Sydney, Hana Nakata and Jericho Tarick.

Finally, we had a look at the design of the Skyfleet planes, had a flying competition to see who the best glider ‘pilot’ was, and finished with a challenge for pupils to design their own planes. It was a fun day full of mutant bugs, aeroplane designs and gliding contests, dressing up, and of course, cake!
