The War of the Wind Book launch took place at St Ninian’s High School in East Dunbartonshire on 22nd September 2022. The S1s attended a book talk assembly in the hall, while the S2 joined me for an author talk afterwards in the library.
As well as encouraging pupils to read and write stories of their own, the pupils were introduced to the characters and themes of the book, as well as looking at story structure and plotting. Pupils got the chance to learn the BSL fingerspelling alphabet, find out more about wind turbines, and try to crack some secret codes!
The library hosted a special ‘Meet the Author’ signing event over lunchtime – it was great to meet so many enthusiastic young readers and writers!
