This September, I spent a month as Author in Residence at King’s Park Primary School running creative writing workshops with the P5, P6 and P7 classes and a group of children in the P4 EAL class.

Over the course of our workshop, we looked at story sparks, story structure, storyboarding, creating memorable characters with exciting descriptions and interesting backstories, story setting, and creating atmosphere using descriptions of the five senses and mood words.

The pupils worked on coming up with their own stories, structuring them using storyboards, and then got to work work writing their own stories. I was really impressed by their imaginative ideas!
